Choosing a men's ring

Width and profile decide how a ring wears long before the metal does. A 6mm band reads differently on the hand from a 3mm one, and a comfort fit — domed on the inside rather than flat — sits more easily on a finger that changes size through the day. Both are stated on every product page.

Signet rings hold a flat or oval face, traditionally for engraving. They sit higher than a band and are heavier for their width, which is worth knowing if the ring is meant for daily wear rather than occasion.

Gold weight matters more here than in most jewelry. A wide band uses considerably more metal than a narrow one, and that weight is what separates a ring that holds its shape from one that distorts. We publish the gram weight alongside the karat.
