Gold Earrings
Gold earrings, explained
Our gold earrings are mostly in 14K yellow gold, with 10K, two-tone and tri-color pieces. More than half are hoops, from small huggies that hug the lobe to large polished and diamond-cut hoops, alongside studs, drops, pearls and pieces set with lab-grown diamonds. Many people whose ears react to costume jewelry can wear 14K gold comfortably.
How to choose gold earrings
Size: hoops are measured by diameter, so 10 to 15 mm sits close to the lobe, 20 to 30 mm is the everyday classic and 40 mm or more makes a statement. Thickness: a 1.5 mm tube is fine and light, 3 mm and more reads bolder. Closure: hinged snap closures are the easiest to wear, while posts with friction or screw backs hold studs securely. Our guide to earring backs compares them.
Are 14K gold earrings good for sensitive ears?
Most people with sensitive ears wear 14K gold without trouble; if you react to nickel, choose yellow gold, which is less likely to contain it than white gold.
What size hoop earrings are most popular?
Around 20 to 30 mm in diameter: visible, but light enough to wear every day.
Can you sleep in gold hoop earrings?
Small huggies and close-fitting hoops are comfortable to sleep in; larger hoops can bend, so take them off.
